The Food List

Here is a copy of the food list I'm using. It's been compiled from a few different sites with full lists of acceptable foods for the cave man diet, as well as my own pizazz. Dr. Cordain (the author of The Paleo Diet) suggests having a few "In Moderation" foods, to better fit modern day people.


  1. Protiens (red meats, poultry, fish)
  2. Vegetables
    • Artichoke, Asparagus, Beet Greens, Beets, Bell papers, Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Cabbage, Carrots, Cauliflower, Celery, Cucumber, Eggplant, Endive, Green Onions, Kale, Lettuce, Mushrooms, Mustard Greens, Onions, Parsley, Parsnip, Peppers (all kinds), Pumpkin, Radish, Rutabaga, Seaweed, Spinach, Squash (all kinds), Swiss Chard, Tomatillos, Tomato, Turnip Greens, Turnips, Watercress, Water Chestnuts, Zucchini
  3. Fruits
    • Apple, Apricot, Avocado, Banana, Blackberries, Boysenberries, Blueberries, Cantaloupe, Cherries, Cherimoya, Cranberries, Gooseberries, Grapefruit, Grapes, Guava, Honeydew melon, Kiwi, Lemon, Lime, Mango, Nectarine, Orange, Papaya, Passion Fruit, Pears, Pineapple, Peaches, Plums, Pomegranate, Raspberries, Rhubarb, Tangerine, Watermelon, Other fruits I may not have listed
  4. Nuts and Seeds and Oils
    • Almonds, Brazil Nuts, Chestnuts, Hazelnuts, Macadamia Nuts, Pecans, Pine Nuts, Pistachios (unsalted), Pumpkin Seeds, Sesame Seeds, Sunflower Seeds, Walnuts
    • Olive Oil, Canola Oil
  5. Beverages
    • Water! Coffee (black), Tea (plain)
  6. Moderation Foods
    • Dried fruit (since it usually is covered in sugar), alcoholic beverages (no more than 12oz of beer, 8oz of wine, or one mixed drink a week), bacon, and cheese - hey, if Dr. Cordain says I can have it, I'm eating it!
